Fruit in Advance

So this is one of those things where you'll have to do a little bit of work one day, but then for many days thereafter only very little work.

After you come home from the grocery store, take the time to cut up any of the fruit that you bought that doesn't naturally come in bite size pieces (like grape) and put them in storage containers in your fridge.

Now for the rest of the week, it will only take you about 1 minute to throw together a quick healthy snack for your kids, or maybe to include in the lunch they take to school.

Fruit In Advance Recipe

Prep time: Maybe 10-20 minutes depending on how many different types of fruit you bought.
Create time: Less than one minute.
Number of Servings: Many

Ingredients
  • Fruit (ie, Grapes, Bananas, Oranges, Clementines, Blueberries, Strawberries, etc)
How to create
  1. Wash (if needed) and cut up large fruit into bite site pieces (melons, pineapple, peaches, apples, etc).
  2. Separate grapes from stems.
  3. Place fruit in separate containers and store in fridge.
  4. As needed throughout the week, take a little fruit from the large container and place in a bowl to be eaten at home or a smaller reusable container to pack in a lunch.
  • Note that I do not recommend cutting up bananas in advance as they tend to turn brown and mushy pretty quickly once peeled and cut up, so you'll have to do those right before eating them.
  • Also note that cut up apples may brown, but you can put a little lemon juice in the container to help keep that from happening.
