Happy Grilled Cheese

This is a quick and easy one for lunch or dinner.

Super simple and maybe puts a smile on your kid's face!

Happy Grilled Cheese Recipe

Prep time: 5 minutes (most of that is waiting for the skillet to heat up)
Cook time: About 7 minutes
Number of Servings: 1 per sandwich

Ingredients
  • Bread (whatever kind you have)
  • Cheese (whatever kind you have and as much as you like)
  • Butter or margarine
  • Pickle slice
  • Strawberry (or anything eatable that can look like a nose)
How to cook

  1. Put skillet on stove and set to medium-low. (You could put it on medium to cook faster, but you risk burning the bread and the cheese not melting enough).
  2. While it is warming up, butter two slices of bread
  3. After skillet is hot (about 4 minutes) place one slice of bread in skillet (in case that isn't obvious - butter-side down!)
  4. Add cheese
  5. Top with other buttered slice of bread (again in case it isn't obvious - this one should be butter-side UP!)
  6. After 2 or 3 minutes, check bottom of bread to see if it looks golden brown. If it doesn't go another minute and check again. When golden brown, proceed to next step.
  7. After bread looks golden brown, flip sandwich over.
  8. After 2 or 3 minutes, check bottom of bread to see if it looks golden brown. If it doesn't go another minute and check again. When golden brown, proceed to next step.
  9. Remove from skillet (don't forget to turn off after you've cooked your last sandwich!)
  10. Place on plate and cut in half on a diagonal
  11. Arrange on plate with a strawberry (with it's top cut off so it won't roll around) and a pickle as shown in picture.
  12. (Optional) turn pickle upside-down and bring sandwich halves closer together to make sad
